In System A, Stadler presents a series of images of measuring tools, colour scales, and other visual systems, arranged as a sequence of instruments. At first glance, these objects appear functional, but on closer inspection they reveal themselves to be obsolete —all of them are without use, generated by AI.
The images borrow from the visual language of scientific tools and fragments of technological instruments, pointing to our desire for measurement, control, and objectivity. Beyond the suggested functionality of the individual components, a sequence of strange devices and mysterious systems begins to emerge. What new logics and ideas could emerge from the black box of generative systems?
When looked at more carefully, these technological innovations no longer communicate clarity or precision, but instead evoke doubt, uncertainty, and a loss of control.
The frames combine milled acrylic glass, aluminium parts, and Aquatuning screws, components used in high-performance processor cooling technology.
